Safety concerning the ingredient “Tansy”

Our Herbal Defense Powder is doctor formulated and absolutely 100% safe.  We have people stating that it is working better than the chemical/poison based products.  Products that actually are causing cancer and toxic shock at an alarming rate.

The toxic reports for the ingredient “Tansy” are all based on the amount ingested and are considering the actual plants consumption. (ie: If you have tansy planted in your garden and your dog eats a lot of it, it can cause mild to severe digestive upset.)  The reports are also suggesting the toxicity in relation to invasive anthropods.  The concern with using tansy rests primarily with its thujone content. Thujone is powerful but can be toxic in large doses. The key point here is the actual amount that is included in our formulation.  The amount of Tansy we have in our Herbal Defense Powder is less than 3%. Not nearly close to enough to pose any toxic danger to your pet and just enough to ward off biting insects.

Here is what Dr. Michael Fox (http://www.drfoxvet.net/) says about our Herbal Defense Powder:

“According to PetzLife records, there have been no adverse reactions in animals receiving this oral herbal supplement which has proven effective in dealing with ticks, fleas and other external insect parasites. It may also help control internal infestations of endoparasitic worms.

Based on positive clinical benefits, it is my professional opinion that PetzLife Herbal Defense Powder offers safe alternatives to the "spot-on" and impregnated flea collar products being marketed by the major drug companies which have many adverse reactions being documented.

Concerns about some ingredients such as tansy* in the Herbal Defense Powder should be assuaged by the very low dosage and pose no threat provided users follow the manufacturer's instructions and follow the common sense practice of not giving any natural, botanical or pharmaceutical products to animals that are pregnant, nursing or are ill, without veterinary consultation.”

 * The concern with using tansy rests primarily with its thujone content. Thujone is powerful but can be toxic in large doses. The amount of Tansy included in PetzLife Herbal Defense Powder is less than 3% and should therefore pose no danger to your pet.

Here are a few facts about Tansy:

-Herbalists recommend the use of tansy for many purposes including as an anthelmintic to kill internal parasites because of its “bitter” properties.

-Tansy was a popular strewing herb in times past because it's clean, camphorous scent repelled flies and other pests. It is still a good custom to plant tansy outside the kitchen door and around the garden for the same reasons.

-It is highly toxic to internal parasites, and for centuries tansy tea has been prescribed by herbalists to expel worms. Tansy is an effective insecticide and is highly toxic to arthropods.
